Seniors Awards and Scholarships presented to Class of 2023
June 1, 2023
Thousands in scholarships awarded
The Class of 2023 celebrated their classmates at the annual Senior Awards ceremony held on June 1, 2023 in the gymnasium.
At the event, students were recognized by their trade and academic teachers for excellence, professionalism, and most improved. The soon-to-be-graduates also learned about thousands of dollars of scholarships to be used for future schooling and tools to begin their trade. Among the presenters were alumni and the family of Al Sanseverino, who was a force for reopening Wright Tech less than a decade ago. A Navy officer, Andrew Gauvin, also was on hand to congratulate a new recruit, Senior Dilan Anaya Alvarez, on his enlistment. Alavarez is in the IT trade and will be working in the area of cryptography.
Other trade teachers shared that some award recipients already have jobs. Plumbing Instructor Joe Sirico, while presenting the award for Professionalism to Erick Castillo, mentioned that he has a full-time job with a water filtration company waiting for him.
Department Head Marianne Nunez and EL Instructor Sara-Beth Snow presented 24 members of the class with the Seal of Biliteracy. The seal, which is placed on their diploma, is awarded after students can demonstrate proficiency in one or more languages through a rigorous assessment.
This is the full list of awards and award recipients, which included the class officers, scholar athletes, and the valedictorian.
