Four Wright Tech students place in Top 6
Wright Tech made a solid showing March 31, 2023 at the state-wide SkillsUSA competition.
Most of the student Warriors that competed were first timers, and performed well under the pressure, according to Phil Bodey, Wright Tech Carpentry Department Head and SkillsUSA coordinator for the school.
“Making the stage (Finals) is top 6 in the state, not a small task, especially for a first timer. And the student who did compete last year won first place again, this time in another competition,” said Bodey, referring to Sophomore Eddie DeMarkey. “I am so proud of each of these students for pushing themselves and conquering their fears.”
DeMarkey, along with seniors Eddie Verduczo and Jose Mandujano served as Wright Tech’s SkillsUSA officers. Here are the competitors and results:
