Freshman creates winning recipe
Wright Tech Freshman Eddie DeMarkey’s chili reigned supreme after the 14th annual Stamford Chili cook-off.
DeMarkey, who created the Really Dilly’ Pumpkin Pork Chili with Wright Tech Culinary Instructor Francine Bove, beat out local fire departments and amateur chefs to take the trophy. The winning chili was a: colorful blend of bright, spicy Habanero and smoky Chipotle peppers, filled with a savory mix of ground pork (and pumpkin of course!) This chili is hearty and bursting with flavor. Full of Autumn splendor.
“During his Academic Cycle he was given a pass and we worked together to make our entry. He really brought it home. His professionalism and commitment were remarkable, said Bove. “Eddie did an amazing job selling it to the crowd!
The cook-off event helped raised $2,250 and resulted in several 100 pounds of food donated for The Lower Fairfield Food Bank. Wright Tech was part of this fund-raising effort, Bove said.
