The 8th annual J.M. Wright Tech Car Show opened its doors on Sunday with lots of flash and fans.
Hundreds attended the yearly fundraising event that featured all types of classic, custom, hot rod, and specialty cars and trucks and other types of vehicles. The car show, sponsored by the Wright Tech Alumni Association in conjunction with the Parent Teacher Organization, attracted a number of car clubs, including the Black Rock Car Club.
The car show is the school’s largest fundraiser. Last year, the event raised more than $10,000 to support programming and scholarships.
“The car show supports all of our programs in many ways,” said Automotive Department Head John Goldbeck. “It helps teachers from sometimes paying out-of-pocket for some supplies. The money goes to support the purchasing of equipment, supplies, field trips – anything we need.”
Last year, approximately 1,500 people from the surrounding community visited to see nearly 300 types of vehicles, including motorcycles and farm equipment. This year was on track to mimic 2024.
